I designed and managed the upgrade of a primary school playground tailored specifically for Grade R and RR learners. The focus was to create a safe, engaging environment that supports both physical activity and imaginative play.

A custom-designed jungle gym was developed with age-appropriate features and the necessary safety measures in place. The playground also includes a series of small playhouses that encourage imaginative role play, along with a mud kitchen where children can explore sensory play in a creative way.

To promote active movement, I incorporated obstacle courses and a large sandpit for unstructured play. A dedicated water play area adds another layer of sensory engagement, encouraging interaction and discovery.

Artificial grass was used throughout the space to ensure a soft, low-maintenance surface that remains green all year round. A “road” layout was created within the design, allowing children to ride their scooters safely while adding an interactive element to the overall playground experience.

This project combines functionality, safety, and creativity to provide a stimulating outdoor space where young children can learn, play, and develop.
